Attorney Profile

Maverick Ray

OWNER / TRIAL ATTORNEY

Maverick Ray is the founding attorney of Maverick Ray & Associates. He was born and raised in the Houston area and received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Texas A&M University. While studying at Texas A&M, Maverick began to realize a passion for the law and followed this passion to South Texas College of Law in Downtown Houston.

While at South Texas, Maverick excelled academically, graduating number six in his class and finishing a semester early. He also found his life calling while studying criminal trial tactics with the esteemed Judge Lawrence Gist. Under Judge Gist’s guidance, Maverick gained a feel for the courtroom and began to learn the art of successful persuasion.

After gaining his license in 2013, Maverick then applied his talents at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, where he spent over a year gaining insight into the criminal process. During this time, Maverick tried numerous cases before juries and judges, argued motions to suppress, handled dispositive hearings, and argued motions for new trials. One recurring theme during all of his trial experience was winning. Maverick never lost a case despite going up against the top defense attorneys in Texas.

Always looking for the next challenge, Maverick decided to take on a new challenge and join the fight from the other side of the ring. As a defense attorney Maverick believes preparation and investigation are the keys to success and has developed special techniques to uncover the holes and flaws in the government’s case. He prioritizes client communication and boasts that he will always return a client’s calls or emails within 24 hours.

Maverick is a smart, fearless, and aggressive trial attorney that is ready to fight for your rights. He doesn’t believe in surrender and is ready to take your case to trial today. If you’re looking to fight and are ready for a jury of your peers to decide your case rather than the government, Maverick is your lawyer.
